Cleto Reyes: 80 Years of History and Passion for Boxing
The Story
The story of Cleto Reyes began in 1920 with the birth of its founder in Mexico City. From a young age, he worked in a leather workshop and developed a passion for boxing. In 1938, after participating in an amateur tournament, he decided to repair the gloves he had used in the fight, marking the beginning of his legacy in boxing glove manufacturing.
In 1945, Cleto Reyes gloves were approved by the Mexico City Boxing Commission and used for the first time in a world championship fight. Over time, the brand expanded internationally, and in 1979, Industria Reyes, S.A. de C.V. was officially established.
Global recognition soon followed: in 1994, the brand received the National Export Award, and in 2008, Alberto Reyes, Cleto’s son, was inducted into the World Boxing Hall of Fame. After his passing in 2019, his daughter, Elizabeth Reyes, took over the company, ensuring that excellence and tradition continue.
In 2020, Cleto Reyes gloves were recognized as a Notorious Brand by the IMPI, supported by the WBC and boxing legends. Today, in 2025, we celebrate 80 years of history, standing as a symbol of quality, passion, and tradition in the world of boxing.
